Trivia

  • Despite airing in 2001, this episode was produced in 2000 according to the UK credits.
  • Some TV guides incorrectly list this episode as airing in September 2000 for the UK.
  • According to iTunes, this episode premiered on Nick Jr. (UK and Ireland) in February 2001 before airing on BBC in November 2001.
  • This episode marks the first of a few things:
    • First appearance of Lenny Lazenby. He looks very much like Chris Evans, who he is voiced by (in the UK version).
    • First episode since Pilchard in a Pickle (Series 1) where Lofty is shown with an angry expression. He looks angry when he says that he did see a duck which was big, after calling them "quacking things".
    • First episode not to air in Japan. It is also the only original series episode to have its Japanese dub skipped.
    • First episode to be censored, presumably for the original ending being too violent.
  • We learn that Roley's hero is rock star Lennie Lazenby.
  • Some online sources incorrectly list this episode as the eleventh episode of the third series, or as the premiere episode of the fourth series.
    • It's likely this episode was incorrectly swapped with Trailer Travis (Series 3) when the information made it to online sources as the mentioned episode is sometimes incorrectly listed as a fourth series episode.
  • This episode was paired with Bob and the Bandstand (Series 4) when it first premiered in North America and Latin America.
  • Lenny Lazenby mentions famous musicians when Wendy asks if the ducks can be put in his pond. In the U.K. dub, Lenny mentions John Lennon, Keith Moon and Frank Zappa. In the U.S. dub, Lenny mentions Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix.
  • Lenny Lazenby says that all of the musicians mentioned had ducks. However, none of them had ducks.

Censorship

  • The ending where Lenny Lazenby smashes his electric guitar is changed in later UK versions. Stock footage of Lennie playing with Roley, and an above shot of the ducks in the water fountain are used in later UK releases, and was also used for all US releases.
    • As a result, this makes this episode the first episode to to be censored in the case of both the UK and US dubs (also the first censored US episode in general, and the second censored episode in the case of the UK dub), and the only episode to have an alternative ending.
  • It is unknown why this episode was removed from Paramount+. Licensing issues from Chris Evans guest starring, or the rather-extreme original ending could be reasons why this episode was pulled.
    • This episode is still available to view on Peacock.
